Learn how to step-by-step manually clean the KARL STORZ 3.0 FIVE scope, without channel, 11301ABXK. Refer to the IFU for detailed instructions and product numbers for cleaning accessories.
Carl Stortz, flexible scopes, reprocessing video 11301 A BX your five flexible intubation video endoscope from Carl Stortz is designed to provide a long and useful service life, consistent reprocessing as outlined in the IFU is a vital part of overall maintenance and is necessary to help maintain device function. This video covers product number 11301 A BX the five scope with no working channel. As always refer to the device IFU for further details, bedside pre cleaning at point of use, wipe the entire exterior of the five scope with a soft lint, free cloth, moistened with water or a diluted, mild or neutral ph enzymatic cleaning solution such as Enzo. This step is to remove gross debris from the exterior of the flexible endoscope. Carefully place the five scope into a covered tray or container and transport it to the decontamination area. Ensure the five scope is protected during transport. Complete cleaning of the patient used. Flexible endoscope should be started within two hours of the bedside prec cleaning to avoid damaging the shaft. Do not use pushing and pulling, movements do not use disinfectants for pre cleaning. These cause fixation of proteins and organic residues, dry leakage test before proceeding to manual cleaning, always perform a leak test on the flexible endoscope leaking, flexible endoscopes must not be used in medical procedures as they pose a patient safety risk if present. Remove the pressure compensation cap and all valves and accessories from the five scope. Inspect the vent port, confirm that the area is clean. If debris is present carefully, remove it with a 70% Isopropyl alcohol wipe. Ensure that both the five scope vent port and leakage tester are completely dry before conducting the leak test. Attach the leakage tester to the five scopes vent port using a clockwise push and turn motion until it stops. Pump up the leakage tester until a pressure of 200 millimeters. Mercury is reached fully articulate the distal tip five times in each direction using the control lever then reduce the pressure by pressing the pressure release button until the pressure reaches 160 millimeters mercury. If using an automatic leak tester, set the leak tester pressure to 160 millimeters mercury and turn it on if the pressure cannot be maintained at 160 millimeters. Mercury do not continue with reprocessing. The scope must be removed from use. Refer to endoscope, return instructions in the IU wet leakage test do not perform a wet leak test in water containing detergent because it is difficult to observe bubbles with detergent present while it is pressurized submerge the entire five scope into a basin or sink containing a minimum of 10 L or roughly 2.6 gallons of room temperature tap water without detergent. Ensure the five scope is completely submerged if surface bubbles are visible on the five scope. After submerging, use a syringe filled with water to remove them. The leakage tester should remain outside the basin or sink and should not be immersed while the scope is submerged, fill all channels with water. Keep the flexible five scope submerged for one minute while fully deflecting the distal tip as follows place the distal tip in the neutral or straight position and hold for 15 seconds, articulate the distal tip to the full up position and hold for 15 seconds, articulate the distal tip to the full down position and hold for 15 seconds place the distal tip in the neutral straight position again and hold for 15 seconds. Look for bubbles on the exterior of the five scope or for a stream of air bubbles. If present, use a syringe filled with water to remove them and see if they come back if bubbles reform. This indicates a leak in the endoscope at that location. If the five scope has a leak as determined by a drop in pressure as seen on the leakage tester or if bubbles are discovered per the steps above immediately, remove the five scope from the water, press the pressure release button on the leakage tester or turn off the automated leak tester to reduce the pressure to zero. Detached the leakage tester from the five scope and referred to the endoscope. Return instructions for further instructions. If the five scope does not leak, remove it from the water bath and press the pressure release button on the leakage tester to reduce pressure to zero or follow the air pumps manufacturer instructions for releasing pressure from the five scope. After the pressure drops to zero detach the leakage tester or automated leak tester from the five scope and proceed to manual cleaning, manual cleaning process when preparing and using the cleaning solutions, follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper solution, concentration and temperature. The five scope must not be cleaned in an ultrasonic bath. Prepare the diluted, mild or neutral ph enzymatic cleaning solution in the sink or basin. Ensure the video cable is wiped with a lint free cloth soaked cleaning solution. Ensure that the immersion cap has been put securely in place completely immerse the scope in the enzymatic cleaning solution. While the scope is immersed, use a soft lint free cloth to clean the exterior of the entire five scope. At least once if visible debris remains continue wiping until no debris is visible. Use the soft flat cleaning brush to brush the exterior surfaces of the five scope handle including the areas between the deflection lever and handle at least three times if visible debris remains continue brushing until no debris is visible keep the scope immersed for the manufacturer recommended contact time. For example, at least one minute for enz all after the recommended contact time, remove the flexible scope from the cleaning solution. Discard all disposable cleaning accessories and use new accessories for water rinsing, fill a sink or basin with enough water to completely immerse the endoscope, completely immerse the five scope in the water. Thoroughly wipe the exterior of the entire scope using a fresh soft lint free cloth, one complete wipe of the entire exterior of the scope should be performed, discard the water and repeat with fresh water for a total of three immersion rinses, remove the scope from the sink or basin and place on a clean or disinfected surface dry the exterior of the scope with a new soft lint free cloth, discard the water and all disposable cleaning accessories. Inspection, visually inspect the five scope for cleanliness and dryness. If residues or contamination are still present, the five scope must be manually cleaned and subjected to a full cleaning procedure. Once more, never use a needle or other sharp objects for removing dirt particles from the device. As this may cause damage, check that the deflection is functioning properly by articulating the distal tip in all possible directions. If there is still residual moisture on or in the video endoscope, it must be dried again, manually clean the distal lens with a cotton tip, applicator soaked in lens, cleaner or 70% isopropyl alcohol when cleaning the distal lens, always wipe with a circular motion, proceed to high level disinfection or sterilization.
